Solar is a cookie brand with great presence and value in the Uruguayan market, and it’s associated to childhood and the nostalgia it evokes. They have the advantage of having been part of a very different Uruguay, when there were just a few cookie brands and varieties, being its identification and brand awareness easier. All of this, plus the quality and particular taste of their product, has made them one of the most prestigious brands. To celebrate their 100th anniversary, Solar decided to explore and analyze the meaning and value the target gave to their anniversary.
The client wanted to dress the classic cookie packaging “for a party” to celebrate the centenary of the brand. When we starting working, we noticed that almost every Uruguayan who thought about the brand Solar and their cookies naturally evoked their own memories. That’s how we reached a concept and an idea that took a step further from our client’s request.
Transmitting from a graphic point of view the memories, stories and anecdotes that the brand brings back in their consumers while “dressing for a party” the packaging and serving this as a celebration invitation for the consumer.
“Solar reminds me of” was the concept suggested to the client to celebrate a career built throughout many generations of Uruguayans. A line of four different packagings was designed, each of them with a Uruguayan telling a short story arising from a memory or the connection with Solar cookies, together with old real pictures. On the front of the package, there appears the website where you can read other stories and add your own. The packaging was printed on film with matte finish and with demarcated metallic areas, which drives forward the quality perception and helps with the differentiating on shelf.
